A throwback high fantasy series in the vein of 80s & 90s fantasy from R.A. Salvator, Dragonlance, and Pern, with progression elements as Osric and his party grow to meet the challenges placed before them.
On the continent of Peridia, magic is slowly unraveling. Magic has started to become unstable and strange tears in reality are appearing, unleashing monstrous creatures. Crops wither and storms worsen as nature begins to turn on itself. The instances of these disruptions have been slowly increasing for hundreds of years, but the rulers of Peridia's nine kingdoms turn a blind eye, absorbed in political squabbles and oblivious to the creeping decay of magic. Only the secluded forest realm of Avendell senses the growing threat, guarded as it is by loyal druids preserving the last remnants of the lost magical civilization of the Calaphiums.
The Veilguard Saga follows Osric Yarrow, a young blacksmith's apprentice in a small corner of The Crownlands of Aeloria. A happenstance find sets Osric down a path of discovery, as he is hunted by a shadowy group, discovers how far magic has unraveled, and learns of an impending war that could end their reality forever. As Osric begins to unravel a conspiracy that traces back millennia, he gathers allies to prepare the nine realms for the looming threat.
Time is running short as Osric is opposed by a secret society whose manipulations stretch back to the fall of the Calaphiums and the splintering of magic. If this cabal should win, it could mean the dissolution of all magical threads binding the universe together. It is up to Osric and his friends to stand in the way of complete annihilation and eternal darkness. Their quest pits them against nightmarish magical beasts, undead armies, enemy agents, and the cabal's allies embedded in the halls of power across Peridia, in a climactic clash to decide the continent’s fate.
